| Welcome to the ONC Railroad the seeds of which were planted in 1965 when I was 7 years old. My Mother bought my Father my Sister and I an American Flyer train set that started a life long love affair with railroading both real and model. Our first layout was a Christmas only layout that we built on a 4x8 sheet of plywood every year under the tree. When I was 11 years old my Father bought me an Atlas N gauge train and I built my first layout on my own with Paper Mache mountains and tunnels. In my late teens and early twenties Rock-n-Roll, Girls and other distractions of the day occupied my time but along came marriage and the birth of my Son so it was time to revisit my love of model railroading with an HO layout for him; another Christmas layout. When he went away to college in 1994 I turned all the HO over to him and was trainless for the first time in many years. Along about this time my Sister got my Wife and I started collecting department 56 Christmas in the City but, what is a Christmas Village without a train. Well dear old Dad came through again and bought my then 8 year old Daughter and I a New York Central Flyer set from Lionel. Once again a simple loop on a 4x8 sheet of plywood under the Christmas Tree was my layout. Eventually the village out grew the layout and we now had Grandchildren underfoot so the train was put out of commission until 2006 when we moved into our new home. My wonderful Wife of 31 years graciously granted me permission to use the formal living and dinning area for my dream layout and the O.N.C Railroad was born. I spent my first 25 years in Canton, Ohio before moving to Texas in 1983 so I decided to model my Railroad after those that serviced Ohio in the 40s, 50s and 60s leaning heavily towards the Baltimore & Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York Central Railroads. I really love scale O gauge so most of what you see on my layout will be true 1/48 scale Locomotives and Rolling Stock. My intentions for this website are to share with my widely scattered family, friends’ fellow model railroaders and anyone who might be interested in the hobby how I went about building my layout and its progress as time goes by. This website is dedicated to the memory of my Father Carl who instilled in my Son and I a love for all things Train related a love we now share with a fourth generation it binds together our past our present and our future. The LAYOUT page has photos of the layout as of the last update. The CONSTRUCTION page covers the design, benchwork, trackwork and electrical aspects of my layout. The SCENERY page shows how I went about building and painting the various scenic components. The MYTRAINS page has photos of my Locomotives with links to the real trains they were modeled after underneath the thumbnails of each train. There is also a page dedicated to CHRISTMAS which is quite an undertaking around our house. Since it is without a doubt my favorite time of year I wanted to share my photos of Christmas at the Buchanan's with family and friends. The LINKS page has various links that might be of interest to people involved in or interested in Model Railroading. The FOTOFUN page contains pictures of non layout related photos of family and friends as well as my other hobby fishing after all man does not live by trains alone. |

| On April 17th I started a new project to do away with the duck under access to the center of the layout and to dress up the construction zone look you are greeted with when you come in the front door. You can follow along with this project on the Construction page. If you have any questions or comments you can send me an e-mail at. |
