Here are some before and after photos reflecting changes made to the
original layout plan as well as photos of ongoing construction.
The Southwest corner before
The Southwest corner after the addition of an O72/O54 curved switch. It was necessary to move
the curved wall and I also added the metal truss bridge.
This is the Northeast corner built to my original plan.
The Northeast corner after alterations. All five tracks for the passenger terminal now carry through to the
inside loop. Tracks #1 & #2 go to the left and #4 & #5 go to the right #3 will go either way through an O72
wye switch. This set up also gives me the ability to reverse directions of my trains
I also added Lionel’s Legacy control system to the original Train Master Command control system.
The new system has an improved hand held remote with L.E.D. display and many new features .
The old hand held still works with the new system
The streets and sidewalks as well as building lighting and vehicles are in place about 2/3 of the way around. I am
working on adding streetlights and still need to add people, traffic signals and a center stripe to the street.
Future Plans
Although the top shelf City Scape of the layout is all D56 buildings. The 2 levels that the trains run on are going
to have scale kit and scratch built structures on them. The first thing I plan to build is the old Pennsylvania
Station from my home town of Canton Ohio. I would also like to add a Timken Company Steel Mill facade some
where on the layout below are a few photos and a drawing of the old station that was torn down in the late 70's.

During the latter part of 2008 and the beginning of 2009 I have focused my attention on the passenger
platforms and the Locomotive service platform. I also finished the multi portal tunnel and have begun to
install buildings and streets on top of it.
The track changes added several new switches to the layout requiring me to modify my switch control panel.
The original set up was poorly done to begin with so it was an opportunity to take my time and do it right.
Along with the terminal area I am working on some scenery carved from foam on each side of the bridge
on the south end of the layout. The southeast corner will be a wooded cliff scene reminiscent of Ohio
Landmarks such as Nelsons Ledges, Hocking Hills and Virginia Kendall. The southwest corner will be a
winter scene with multiple levels of buildings on a snow-covered hillside.
